Blasphamachine-SALVATION

Blasphmachine is a band out of Malaysia and their new CD Salvation is another trend in the new wave of Death and Black Metal that is coming from that region of the world. The production sounds disconnected. It is as if the guitars are on stereo tracks and the drums are centered but there is a distance or a disconnect from the drums to the guitars. Vocals are centered appropriately and sound as if they are compressed and recorded on a condenser mic. Aside from that, the band is more Death than Black as for the rhythms but the heavy use of the bomb blasts with tremolo picking on the sixth string and the theme inspired about death to religion (so to speak) is probably why they are a blend of Death and Black.
The bad thing is that nothing really stands out and this is just another band trying to make their mark. Ok so their constant Marduk inspired bomb blasts and heavy riffs that demand hell overturn a new leaf tells me the they are dedicated to their music. However, nothing that they do really impresses me. Nothing stands out to say this was different and demands my attention. Therefore, does it demand your attention? Probably not. If you want evil guys from Malaysia that are just playing and making (noise) music, well then Ok, but aside from this. The chord structure is unimaginative and really poorly executed. Here is the deal, if these guys are like 14-17 year olds and this is the extent of their creativity and musical ability then OK, but still nothing here demands that pay my hard earned money to listen to the same theme about religion is the evil and death is the eternal release.
The drummer is a powerhouse and maybe just for that you should get the CD. However, the rhythm chords are so poorly executed. Ok WTF does that mean, imagine playing open E on the sixth string and then a 1/2 step up to the F, and then E again and then F again, and then change it with an Ab then G then back to E. In other words it is boring and to rudimentary. I wish bands like this would just also fill in this sentence, You should listen to our CD because ____. Because, if left for me to answer, then I say that this is just another Death/Black Metal CD, uninspiring and really is undistinguishable from all of the stuff
that is out there and that is why I give them a 2 out of 5 guitar picks. And actually I feel bad because I can hear the intensity of their playing, but unfortunately, their intensity does not demand that I nor you pay your money for uninspiring music- sorry- 2 out of 5 guitar picks.
