Inner Sanctum, WOW! their CD "Legions Awake" starts with with this epic beginning and the tightness to their playing and the various instruments it was a pleasure to listen to. The vocals are harsh, raspy but still understood. The production was first rate. every instrument was clearly heard, I knew that this was produced by a good engineer. Even when the drums ended with the floor tome, you can actually hear the depth and reverb on the floor tom, in other words a very well produced CD.

Really good blending of guitars and the transition from riff to riff measure to measure was so well executed. Plenty of fills from guitar and drumming that maintains the listener's attention, but it brings you back to want to hear the next riff despite the fact that you already heard it. Again a good CD with really good songs. This is a CD for the Thrash fan, and really you won't be disappointed. OK the guitars are really unrelenting with catchy riffs and so clear you can actually hear the up down picking variation with a proper amount of sustain and limiter and gate control. If you are a guitarist, you will not be able to help yourself and just pick up your guitar just to strum along with the CD. Sometimes you might even think that 4 to 5 minutes of a song is just not enough. The good thing about this CD is that you don't even have to be at a concert or in the mosh pit to bang your head.

Again from the start you will be head banging and listening to this CD at least several times. the best part is that when you put the CD down for about a month or two, and then pick it up again it will give you the same feel that you get from the first listen.

Personally, I will not say that one song is better than the other because each song is just as good as the next and when you hear "Realms of Oblivion" just when you think the song finished it didn't. Now the title track is hidden in the middle of the CD and so Freakin worth the wait, it kicks ass!!! OK, Why I say this, the rhythm produces this driving force and the lyrics are evident about their subject, the drum work matches note for note the guitars, and the solo is simple and yet so effective, it almost goes into this blues blend and the double bass does this sextuplet beat that really emphasizes the song rather than it being about one particular instrument.

Really, I don't care if you are not a fan of thrash, this is just one CD that you have to have and for every type of metal head this is a 5 out of 5. Can they do better? Probably but for the hear and now, this CD kicks ass and is very creative on an old theme of thrash metal. If you are a true metal head you will instantaneously like this CD. Be on the Look out for more from these guys cause they will surely surpass their contemporary rivals.

5 out of 5 guitar picks
