If you’re looking for the latest in high-intensity, suffocating aural terrorism, then Witch Of The Waste may just be a band with the ingredients to become that band. Basic comparisons are difficult here; but if you spliced Napalm Death and The Dillinger Escape Plan’s penchant for bizarre chaotic noise with the heaviness of Ulcerate and Cephalic Carnage then sprinkle with the in-your-face ‘fuck you’ of Converge, then you’re nearly there. This EP is short-and-swift, like death by napalm strike, but for its humble running time, there are plenty of moments of slow, bass-led disquiet that make you feel as uncomfortable as any full length. Shrieked vocals sound just as schizophrenic as any other band on the scene, though they could use some fine tuning.

The deeper screams are more in suiting with the music, and help this band maintain an air of originality that hopefully translates over to any future recordings. If they manage to play near you, it would be an idea to see them live, as their shows are already gaining a reputation as being unhinged, psychotic displays. If you’re a fan of grind-type upstarts Teethgrinder, this might be for your more cerebral side. Rating: 4.5/5
