Track 1. Arrival in the Dark- The record starts with a hard nosed groove. It's melodic, and the music is seemingly tight. At times the song sort of spreads out thin. Especially when the more symphonic parts and wind wood parts come into focus with the track. However I love the heavy guitar playing that comes about later in the track, especially the lead solo. The vocals overall however which seem melodic and mostly melodic, do not seem to have enough of a powerful presence here, they are ok but could be better I am sure.
Track 2. Prostrate Seer- Like a deep wallowing roar in the night, this song opens wide with a hunger that could destroy all life surrounding it. As I sit here and listen to this, the melodies do captivate me as do the time changes. The dual lead vocals are odd, but still quite interesting. I really dig how the weird melodies twist and and just drive the track farther, giving it an insane but complete fun feeling through and through. There's a majority feeling of being thrilled here, though a slight campy feeling as well, but overall quite entertaining and catchy. The track is prolonged but I would not say compiled with filler material. Your ears are treated to delicate riffs and melodies from every direction. Timing is well done throughout the track, with the powerful drums.
Track 3. The Secrets of Darkness- A digital or even piano laden melody steadily grows into the aural frame of my mind. The vocals enter though there's an interesting development, not just clean this time, but growls that give you a hint of darkness to possibly come. There begins an alternation between dark and light almost like a struggle. Onward comes the galloping riffs like an invasion of wonder. The music itself winds a thrilling and vastly entertaining groove together. The palm mutes trickle about with thundering force, with piano melodies not far behind. The song seems to be kicked into a higher gear as everything is set upon overload. For a brief moment everything dies down, only to explode again into a massive crescendo of awesome. Loving the time changes through out this piece, vocals are better to a degree. A creatively written dual guitar solo, though I wish it was longer, at least there are some kick ass harmonic guitar parts. A sweet tasty bass takes over slithering about just right, along side it a triumphant yet perfect finish to the song, the piano, a kick ass guitar riff, and the vocal's reaching a height of absolution. Great ending!

Track 4. Anguish- Things start off calm, and melodic, a great, and yet very beautiful introduction here. A very eclectic drum beat inters the frame. Everything except a clean guitar melody dies down. The bass hits a few notes, as if to be the sign for a transition to something much heavier. When it comes about, it's quite pleasing to the ears. The melodies are just completely passionate and thoroughly thought provoking. And in a way there is a fusion of both hope and fear all in one place. The music it self flows quite well. And a neck slitting solo just shreds, bringing along a heavy guitar which just pounds, all life out of existence. The piano at the end, and the sort of spoken word vocals at the end are an odd touch, but laid against the slow yet distorted lead solo, it brings about a classical feel when, mirrored against the rest of the track, and with the way the song finishes off, it's just right, and it all wraps nicely together.
Track 5. The Shelter- We begin things here on the last track, with something of an orchestrated nature, very melodic. It builds up to a subtle but smooth and intelligent beat, things die down if just to bring about a melodic clean then distorted pair of guitars. More change is thrown about, different passionate melodies are introduced as if bringing in a newly themed color to the conversation. It has a delicate and creative, yet dynamic sound about it. The album closes up in an epic fashion with the violins and organ creating an anthem like sound that's awe inspiring, the track eventually fades to complete silence. Thus far it's been an entertaining review. There have been moments of darkness, distorted thunder that clap about with sheer madness. And there have been times that you've become completely engulfed by the absolutely beautiful piano and symphonic parts. Mixing overall was ok, I do however wish the vocals would have been just a bit stronger in places, they were good and clean but a bit more of a presence in the mix would have been superb. Really dig this bands sound. Rating 9/10
