Aeveron are by no means new to their craft , Since forming in 2002 Aeveron have released Four full length Albums with 2015,s “ VVD Destination Annihilation “ actually self produced by the band . Noted as Melodic Swedish Death Metal by themselves , a fact that I find quite ironic considering that they are from Zwickau , Germany . I do understand though that this reference quickly sends your thoughts a Swedish place that many of us love .
Now for me " Melodic Metal" really relies on a mixture of two guitarist playing off one another, with fairly consistent melodic twists and turns . Aeverons adept guitarist often play separate passages and pull together for definitive stomped out riffs , with single string treble riffing over power chorded rhythms . This pair know how to play their guitars and throw in some decent clean passages and lead playing through out .
Now the drumming consists of an array of galloping beats , with a mid paced blast beats and a constant double bass mixture of kick drums . Vocals mainly consist of gruff but discernible death metal growls and clean sung passages thrown in on anthemic chorus passages . The occasional higher pitch screams mix well with the sometimes overdone gruff vocals and should be used more often to set an evil melodic mood if that makes any cense haha.
Aeveron start with “ Never Led Astray “ an A typical Swedish/ Norse type rhythm that reminds me of a famous “ Viking “ band we all love . “ Delusion “ track two really reminds me of this famous band but heads into Aeverons path that is a little more diverse . To sound like one of my favorite bands is no diss here , more of a compliment really .

“ The Plague “ is a real stand out track and is a great mid tempo song that really shows what Aeveron can do , you get an “ A “ here guys . “ Insanity “ and “ Cave Hominem “ start out with galloping thrashier rhythm and are both good tracks . I really enjoy “ Cave Hominems “ chanting chorus and guitar progressions . “ VVD Destination Annihilation “ and “ Last one on Earth “ show case great lead harmony lines to set the mood with the ever galloping rhythm section. The final track “A new Dawn “ is perfectly placed to take you on an ending journey with Aeveron , great song writing here .
I personally have been listening to Hard music since 1991 and can be a little critical after so long . So listening to this album multiple times has led me to the conclusion that Aeveron are a great band deserving of a good listen by you out there . I would rate them 8.5 / 10 , I really enjoyed “ VVD Destination Annihilation .
