As I found myself reading the bands promo for a sense of reference, I though it much easier to allow the music to speak for itself. I can tell you, having just had their 4th album grace my stereo system, the music does just that.
Full transparency, I don't usually find myself enamored with bands outside of my usual "melo-death" comfort zone but I can tell you, come June 12th, there's a new album that will be hammering it's way onto my personal play list.
Deadened by Dying Humanity delivers all you could want and more. Remnant of some of "Big 4" influences, for me it took me back to standing in the local CD shop in 1999 and picking up "Stigmata" by Arch Enemy which arguably was the album that popped my cherry with the European Death Metal scene. Pressing play on the opening and title track "Deadened" you get a nice little surprise which you're not really accustomed to getting upon looking at the album work, the first 40 seconds of the song is this folky, quick tempo, strummed cleans, but don't let that fool you, you're about to get punched in the face.

Opening strong, very strong, my interest was peaked, and as rare of an occurrance as it is with the current scene, I was not disappointed. Throughout the album, the band continued to show different levels of skill, impressive range with the vocals, water-tight blast beats, with a driving and thumping bass backing. Another favorite of mine, one that I found myself listening to more than twice was "Oblivion". It's not often enough where musicians take the time to properly showcase their abilities, and for 5:32 you bear witness to the depths of their artistry. Exhibiting on multiple levels a sample of their technical range.
Masterful instrumentals aside, on this album we are introduced to Marcus Friedrich taking the lead. In both "Ashes of Destiny" and "Delusion", he gives a glimpse at his vocal range. Flawlessly going from gutteral and intimidating dirty vocals, to this powerful and semi-ethereal cleans.
What else can be said about the album? Ten ton hammer strong, white knuckle blistered speed, melodic, multi-faceted, and well worth every penny when it drops. These guys are standing among few others at the brink of a storm ready to remind us all, metal isn't guys in skinny jeans, make-up and pretty hair, it's brutality and harmony finding the art of balance. And without a doubt deserve some serious attention. Be sure to pick-up or download a copy of "Deadened" 6/12/15.
